Students brought home three forms--a green form outlining key information about the class, a pink copy of the green form, and a white letter introducing Edmodo. Students are required to return the green-colored note and white note to me by Wednesday, September 11th, signed by the student and parent/guardian. The pink note is for student/parent/guardian records.
This week in Social Studies students will be taking part in the following:
Monday, September 9th: Students will complete an interest inventory so that I can find out more about each of the students in my class. We will also take some time during class to organize our Social Studies binders for the school year. Students are required to have a 1''-2'' binder for Social Studies class with five dividers. We will be labeling the dividers on Monday together in class. Students should be sure to have one package of lined paper in the binder as well.
Tuesday, September 10th: Students will begin the first part of the course pre-assessment. We will continue to organize binders on that day as well. Students will be required to bring a book to class--to read after they complete the first part of the pre-assessment.
Wednesday, September 11th: On this day, we will be covering the events of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Students will be taking part in discussions regarding the events of that day, and will watch video clips from that day.
Thursday, September 12th: Students will be introduced to Edmodo, and will create their student account on Edmodo. We will discuss proper use of Edmodo as a communication tool within the classroom, and practice posting, and completing a poll.
Friday, September 13th: Students will take part two of the course pre-assessment. We will continue to organize binders on that day as well. Students will be required to bring a book to class--to read after they complete the second part of the pre-assessment.
